Amanda A. Hugelmeyer ’04
Her volunteer roles have included serving as Chair of the Programming Committee, as an AADC Board Member, Co-Chair of Reunion, and Co-Chair of AADC Smart Talks.
Amanda took on the leadership role of Chair of the AADC 100th Anniversary Women’s Conference: Women Moving Forward, which honored our first century of connecting and engaging alumnae and our bright future. This marquee event was hosted at the East Brunswick Hilton on March 18, 2023, where we celebrated women’s advancement over the last 100 years and explored the work still to be done to achieve equity and inclusion in many arenas.
As Co-Chair of AADC Smart Talks, Amanda was instrumental in launching the inaugural talk in 2018. These talks help bring our alumnae community together, with participants tuning in from far and wide via Zoom. Amanda continues to network with alumnae to find interesting talks that bring this program to life as part of the AADC Women’s Life-long Learning Initiative. Well-received talks have been presented in honor of Black History Month, about genealogy, covering issues such as managing college debt, finances, health care, navigating Medicare, and workplace discrimination.
As a member of the AADC Alumnae Reunion Weekend Planning Committee for the more than a decade, including serving as Co-Chair, Amanda encourages classmates to attend and celebrate at AADC Alumnae Reunion Weekend. She continues to volunteer at Reunion in various roles, among which is as a delightful host for campus bus tours.
She was a steadfast member of the AADC Young Alumnae Network (YAN), where she contributed her creativity to the group’s events, including the popular Cabin Fever each winter or a Spa hosted at Reunion. As a member of the former Students Today, Alumnae Tomorrow (STAT) Committee, she participated in planning the committee’s Study Break events at the Alumnae Center, where alumnae provided encouragement to undergraduates during final exam time. For her tireless energy and dedication to the AADC as a young alumna, Amanda received the 2014 Young Alumnae “Mabel” Award.
Amanda was also a valuable participant as a Sponsor in the former AADC Extern Program, now called Douglass Alumnae Mentoring, sharing her profession as a certified personal trainer and senior corporate fitness program manager. She has also hosted and held exercise classes on campus for alumnae.
Amanda, who is a Project Manager in Well-Being and Regulatory Reporting at PSEG, shared fitness tips with alumnae during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She made an instructional exercise video that was shared virtually with our alumnae community that provided tips on how to reduce stress through exercise during quarantine. In addition, Amanda shared a list of online resources about emotional well-being, anxiety, staying active, productive, healthy, and caring for yourself and family. These included a five-minute workout video and activities to do at home with children.
A loyal supporter of the AADC Annual Appeal, Amanda’s commitment and support will help ensure the strength of the AADC for generations to come.
